Aerial spraying

I started to write a long Facebook rant :-) about a comment on aerial spraying and it got so long that I decided to write it out here and then post a link there. So everyone who reads this blog gets the benefit of another pesticide rant :-)

The initial facebook post was about all the dead and defective dragonfly nymphs that I have seen this last year.

Someone there asked where I have seen these effects. And my reply is as follows.

I have seen significant effects in the Escondido area, Vista area and further South towards San Diego.

And it is almost impossible to find open acknowledgment by the cities and counties of everywhere they are spraying. Do they openly let everyone know by informing the news media? Do they post Flyers more than 10 days in advance? Do they make any good-faith effort at informing the public in a timely manner? No they do not. So just because I know that they have done some localized spraying in San Diego doesn’t mean that I believe for a second that there has been no other aerial spraying in Los Angeles and other parts of Southern California.

I do know that they are trying to do some more aerial spraying in the Temecula area. Say goodbye to any non toxic grapes there. And anybody’s backyard organic garden.

But if there has been aerial spraying over a commercial organic area the organic product is still sold as “organic”. Because the owner didn’t add anything themselves, and possibly didn’t even know, and all of the toxic pesticides approved by the National, State, and City governments — and vector control agencies are as pure and nutritious as vitamin water aren’t they.
