Which is it?

http://www.calflora.org/cgi-bin/species_query.cgi?where-taxon=Ludwigia+hexapetala Quote Ludwigia hexapetala, a dicot, is a perennial herb that is native to California and is also found elsewhere in North America and beyond. End quote Hexapetala, (six petals :-) ) Sigh, this is my problem! Cal-IPC: State of California Aquatic plants http://www.cal-ipc.org/landscaping/dpp/plantpage.php?region=state&type=Aquatic%20plants Quote Invasive! Do Not Plant! Invasive! More/larger photos Uruguayan water-primrose, creeping water-primrose Ludwigia hexapetala, L. uruguayensis, L. peploides Crowds out native plants and reduces water quality. Dense mats slow water movement and create habitat for mosquito larva End quote I have spent almost 10 years trying to acquire native plants to put in ponds. This plant grows extremely well for me. Apparently so well that it’s being characterized as invasive. But native too? You’re telling me that for millions of years it grew in part of California but not in identical ecosystems further to the south??? So that when it grows really well in these systems now it’s designated invasive??? We have damaged and destroyed so much ecosystem we don’t even flippin know what grows where anymore. Secondarily, people with their flipping databases that they can’t ever change to fix. You think if we had a California native plant database and a California invasive plant database that the people would talk to one another and maybe figure it out.
