Hate Radio

Okay…. look, my fellow humans, permaculturists, and thinkers, could we maybe get better at looking at the irony in ourselves. Could we stop screaming “I hate Hate Radio” and try to just turn it off and do something positive. I know I fuss a lot about Monsanto but I’m also just trying to promote knowledge. I don’t hate them! There is nothing inherently wrong with a GMO just as there is nothing inherently wrong with a tobacco plant. It is how they are being used that I see as a problem.

So I have a suggestion. If you are a religious person try volunteering at a soup kitchen. If you feel that you have to teach others how to behave volunteer at an elementary school. And if you want to make an impact and benefit the environment maybe join a group that is working to decrease the pesticides that the cities are using.

But try not to hate the people that are promoting ideas contrary to yours. Even the cities that spray pesticides everywhere are doing so because they have been told by salesman (who also believe in what they are selling) that this is the best, brightest, greatest way to have their city look wonderful.

The best to everyone including the haters :-)

Walter Scott shooting

Permaculture is about living with the world and not against it and treating others as you would like those upstream from you to treat you. There is nothing sustainable in the behavior that leads to Walter Scott’s death.

Maybe there is some climate change going on. I think this bothered me more than the Sandra Bland killing. And the big difference is it was videoed without the police officer’s knowledge. I watched carefully what the cop did afterwards. It was not in a panic. It was not oh my gosh what did I just do. It was –I’ve done this before, this is just another day at the office. I’ll go back to where I was, pick up my Taser, walk over to the body, and toss it next to it.

He testified that Scott had taken his taser and was moving at him with it.

I was appalled. There isn’t anything even remotely sustainable about this behavior.

Anyone who thinks that science is as reported in the newspaper should read this.

Permaculture is about helping everyone in all countries live with the world and not against it.

So this post is for you if you do not live in the USA.

http://m.huffpost.com/us/entry/peeling-back-the-curtain-on-monsanto_b_9867902.html

If you do live in the United States don’t bother reading it. Monsanto has purchased our Secretary of State and probably our next President. She has actively worked to promote and sell (if arm-twisting and being forced to buy can be considered selling 😛 ) Monsanto products in other countries. As Secretary of State she was a virtual Monsanto salesperson. And I can’t imagine that Monsanto has not purchased everything below these two positions as well :-)

Oh well I’m told that I’m too critical :-)

Letter: Bees and other pollinators need proper food sources to survive

As a beekeeper, I often have people share with me their concerns for the plight of honeybees and the other native pollinators. They often concentrate their concern on the use

They also need a clean source of non-chlorinated water. Does your yard supply that?

Mine does :-)

Watch "Little Things Matter: The Impact of Toxins on the Developing Brain" on YouTube

https://youtu.be/E6KoMAbz1Bw

A great little video done by Bruce Lanphear: Professor, Faculty of Health Sciences, Simon Fraser University.

It is about some of the things that I also fuss about. And one of the big things I am concerned about is that we know so little about brain development.

Bruce has excellent points about the parts per billion of toxins and the parts per billion of prescribed drugs such as Ritalin.

Nice statistical examples.

I like number 6 stop spraying pesticides around your home

Monsanto Strikes Again: Cartoonist Fired over Pro-Farmer Strip

Friday was fired a day after the cartoon was published in a local Iowa newspaper.

Source: Monsanto Strikes Again: Cartoonist Fired over Pro-Farmer Strip

Cartoonist Rick Friday was fired for a cartoon lampooning Monsanto a day before World Press Freedom Day.

It’s not entirely Monsanto’s fault but you better believe they knew what would happen– so maybe it is. They didn’t just pull a few ads they pulled them all. They absolutely knew what would happen.

But, I tell you who should be fired and it’s not the cartoonist Rick Friday. In my opinion Larry Kershner the Editor is the one that should be immediately terminated. For the love of advertising money he fired a cartoonist for simply being a cartoonist, and who had been working with the the paper for 21 years.

The editor, Larry Kershner writes on the paper’s website: “I am currently news editor for Farm News, an Ogden Newspapers publication based in Fort Dodge, Iowa. I have been a working journalist since 1981. I’ve worked for magazines and weekly and daily newspapers in California, Minnesota and Iowa. I have won my share of awards in several categories of reporting in Minnesota and Iowa,”.

He should give his “Awards” back.

All of them.

Just my opinion.

Hey, leave some for me.

I’m not the fondest of the ground squirrels but they’re part of the ecosystem and the Hawks, Bobcats, and Coyotes need them. It’s amazing how many animals come to drink :-)

Love watching them.
